Nowadays, herbal preparations are increasingly used in medicine. These cheaper, more available and they have fewer side effects than synthetic ones. Nigella Sativa, commonly known as Black Cumin, has been traditional medicine since antiquity. This herb is to many properties. The prophet Muhammad himself already mentioned them, claiming that “Black Cumin a cure for all diseases except death". Researches on N. Sativa confirmed it anti-diabetic, anti-asthmatic, pro-fertility, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, gastroprotective, immunomodulatory, analgesic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory anti-ischemic effects. Many of these properties due thymoquinone, which the main component black cumin essential oil. present review an attempt provide specific overview researches literatures pharmacognostical profile pharmacological activity seeds this plant. It will be helpful scientists, researchers other healthcare professionals, who working with plant need up date about it.
